ADD
A MEAL
How do I add a meal?
You have two options: 1) create a meal from scratch; 2) copy
a meal from one day to another.
If you are just getting started, you obviously have no meals
stored, so you will configure a meal with the Nutrition Calculator
and save a meal to a day.
Once you have saved some meals, you have the option of going
to another day in the Food Planner, choosing "Copy an
Existing Meal," and then selecting a meal you have used
before.
How do I change a meal?
When reviewing a meal assigned to a day, click on the "Edit
a Meal" button to begin the editing process.
Can I copy a saved meal to another day?
You certainly can. As described above in how to add a meal,
choose "Copy an Existing Meal" from the top of a
specific day's page and then choose from meals in various
months.
STORED MEALS
I want to move a meal to another day. Is this possible?
While you can't move a meal to another day, you can copy the
meal in question to another day (as described above) and then
delete it from the day you no longer need it stored on. It's
a two-step process: copy then delete.
Can I add a note without adding a meal?
Yes. Notes are independent of meals, so if you delete a meal,
your notes will not be affected.
Can I enter my own nutritional values that I know?
You certainly can. On a particular day's page, you will find
a box containing the
logo. Use the controls in this area to enter, save, modify,
or delete your own custom data. These foods/meals cannot be
added to the comparison list and are not considered when averaging
meals during any time period.
COMPARE MEALS
Why do I want to do this?
This feature is a great way to see which meals are healthier
than others. Since it may be hard to flip between days, we
want to offer you a side-by-side comparison if you want to
use it.
I've compared some meals. How do I get rid of them and
compare other meals?
You can delete individual meals from your list by clicking
the
symbol next to each meal, or you can delete all meals by choosing
the "Remove All Meals" button at the bottom of the
"Meals to Compare" box.
I had a meal on my comparison list, but now it's not there.
Why is that?
If you logged out of the Food Planner, your temporary comparison
list is deleted.
It may have also been that if you left yourself logged in
for an extended period of time, your session expired on the
server and your information was lost. Your stored meals weren't
lost, just the temporary things like your login status and
meal comparisons.
Also, if you added a meal to your comparison list and then
went and deleted the meal altogether from the Food Planner,
the system removed it from the comparison list since it's
no longer available for viewing.
NUTRITONAL AVERAGES
What's up with the math?
We've had to round some values, so the numbers may be off
by just a fraction.
I can't average a day. What gives?
This should only happen if you do not have any meals stored
on that day.
How are you getting these results?
When we average a day, we sum the meals you have stored and
divide by the number you have on that day. Then we multiply
by three, since the average person eats Breakfast, Lunch,
and Dinner to acquire their nutritional values for the day.
Each meal on a day is weighted equally.
Weeks are averaged for 21 meals, while months are averaged
for 3 times the number of days in the month. The "all
meals" average option figures you ate 3 meals a day for
the number of days the Food Planner allows for planning (365
or 366).
ACCOUNT SETTINGS
Can I change my name/e-mail address?
You can. Do we need your real first name and last name? No,
but it won't make your Food Planner pages look as silly if
you give us your real name so the system can print it at the
top.
As for your e-mail address, you can change it at any time
as well. Keep in mind that password recovery goes to the e-mail
address you provide, so don't switch it to your friend's e-mail
because they could then discover your password.
If I delete my account and sign back up, will my stored
meals still be there?
No. When you delete your account, it takes your name, password,
all of your meals, and all of your notes out of the system.
Everything associated with you is purged and cannot be recovered.
Once you delete your account, you can sign back up with that
e-mail address again, but you will have to start over from
scratch.
What do I do if I forget my password?
Use our password recovery tool linked on the log-in page.
Provide us with your e-mail address, click submit, and then
check that e-mail account to find your password from the Food
Planner.
MISCELLANEOUS
What do you do with my information?
Nutrition Addition doesn't do anything with your information.
We don't sell it. We don't give it out for free. It stays
with us so you can use the Food Planner.
The dining program at your school, however, does have access
to a list of first names, last names, e-mail address, and
number of meals stored in your account. This is strictly so
they can see how popular or useful the Food Planner is. They
may use these statistics for their own research or for contests
or promotions, but they don't know your password or anything
about your meals other than the number you have stored.
Do you look through my planner and see what I'm eating?
No. We have better things to do.
